Dancing since 1971

It all started when…

Marilyn Henderson created “dance at Brijets” for her two daughters that began dancing in 1971 in Edmonton, Alberta. “When the studio closed in Edmonton, I started searching for studio space in Fort Saskatchewan. I started the Fort Society of Dance, a not for profit organization. We were very successful and had a lot of groups…”. She was the president of the society for 8 years before opening her own business called “dance at Brijets” after her youngest daughter. Her studio was created in order to give dancers in Fort Saskatchewan their own dance space and to help her daughters to pursue their love of dance.

Brijets began like her own dance experience, ‘in a little union hall downtown” in Fort Saskatchewan. “We used the backs of chairs for bars until we moved to another studio…”. From their humble beginnings, and two location moves, Brijets is now home to hundreds of dancers and parents, twelve experienced teachers, a welcoming studio with high roomy ceilings, and two classrooms.

Testimonials

We’ve been part of the DAB family about 10 years now and have thoroughly enjoyed the experiences over the years! I’ve enjoyed watching my daughter gain valuable performance and growth in her dancing. The teamwork, friendships, dedication to the kids and fun are what keeps us coming back! The teachers are wonderful and help guide the kids to perform and be their best selves! The effort during Covid to keep the dancers engaged was admiral and we are super grateful to be part of the wonderful community!!

My daughter has been dancing with DAB since she was 3yrs old (now 15) and she absolutely loves it there. I have never had to force her to go to dance, she loves all the teachers and staff and grew to love dancing more and more each year. They are not just a Dance Studio, they are family

My daughter began her dance journey when she was four years old. From the very beginning, Dance at Brijets made her feel welcome... like family. The instructors are kind, caring and always willing to go the extra mile for each and every student. DAB is a fun and inviting atmosphere but also strives for excellence. My daughter has enjoyed many wonderful years of success and continues to love being a part of the DAB family.

Dance at Brijets is more than just a dance studio - It’s a family. The twelve years that I spent there helped shape me into not only a lover of dance but a better person. The expert teachers share their passion for dance in such an inspiring way that I think any young dancer would be privileged to call dance at Brijets their home.

We have been part of the Dance at Brijets family for about 13 years now. My daughter, Jordyn, started the Rhythm Rascals program at the age of 4 and is now going into her final year of high school. She has been blessed to have been taught by some amazing teachers one the years who have nurtured her love of dance and helped her grow into the talented dancer she is today. Over the years Jordyn and her groups have won many trophies and scholarships which has been outstanding but on top of that we have both made lasting friendships, had so many laughs and have made memories to last a lifetime. Dance at Brijets has created a great environment to dance in with a welcoming studio and staff that are knowledgeable, kind and truly care for all their students. I am thankful Jordyn has been a part of the DAB family throughout her dance journey.
