It all started when…
Marilyn Henderson created “dance at Brijets” for her two daughters that began dancing in 1971 in Edmonton, Alberta. “When the studio closed in Edmonton, I started searching for studio space in Fort Saskatchewan. I started the Fort Society of Dance, a not for profit organization. We were very successful and had a lot of groups…”. She was the president of the society for 8 years before opening her own business called “dance at Brijets” after her youngest daughter. Her studio was created in order to give dancers in Fort Saskatchewan their own dance space and to help her daughters to pursue their love of dance.
Brijets began like her own dance experience, ‘in a little union hall downtown” in Fort Saskatchewan. “We used the backs of chairs for bars until we moved to another studio…”. From their humble beginnings, and two location moves, Brijets is now home to hundreds of dancers and parents, twelve experienced teachers, a welcoming studio with high roomy ceilings, and two classrooms.
